Not another blooming pair of...

Yup, it's anothery. This time a in teal corduroy (thrifted) with mock antique brass anchor buttons (not thrifted). Sitting alongside a vintage transfer singlet and a new fedora made with this dress's leftovers and this pattern.

I went back for the Oliver and S Sailboat pants pattern to use as a bloomer base again here and I'm pretty smitten with this pair. It's nice when you like stuff you make. The difference between these and the hot air balloon version is bloomer cuff here fits a lot closer to the leg so there's a decent amount of puff, which I like.

So you've seen the lounging squid singlet here but it's back again as the perfect partner in crime for these bloomers. They were quite literally made for each other. Why, all of a sudden I've been struck by the urge to make little 'ensembles', who knows. Anyone else afflicted? Best not to question and just get on with giving this style a fitting title...how about Vintage-Pirate-Modern? Sure, you can use it. And if you want to bloomify some pants for your lil' man, the tutorial can be found here.

Maybe you've started to notice the number of hand-made stuffs photographed 'on the wall' out-numbering 'on the kids'. Clothes on the wall don't wiggle, since these days 'photo sessions' always turn into dance-offs between my one and four year old. On the stairs. On the table. No music necessary. These boys rock to their own beat. But me...I cannot verk in dees conditions!

  5. I lovessss it! Right now I'm literally finishing up a cropped off version of the sailboats for the shorts sew along this summer. They make amazing little pieces of clothing no matter what length.

  6. ah hahaha re the dance offs. I feel you. Also you can never have enough puff in a bloomer - I adore the colour of the velvet, the buttons and even the transfer single and hat. Lovely work - if you made a big girl version I would want to wear them. No really - with my kelly green platforms :)

  7. Those are absolutely gorgeous! I have never been able to find anything that tempted me to sew for my 2 boys, but I think this has done the trick. They are the best dressed boys around for sure :-)

  13. I pretty much want to replicate this whole outfit. I am definitely getting some of that amazing transfer paper. And probably the fedora pattern. And I've already got Oliver + S. So, I'm off to a good start. Well done, my dear.

  14. I love that hat. Actually, I love the whole outfit. I'm married to a grown man who would love to dress "vintage modern pirate" style. Do you think a grown person would look good in bloomers? ;)

  21. Ooooh, my favorite pair of bloomers yet!! These are awesome! (I just love corduroy, and with those buttons, it looks so perfectly vintage here.) And I hear you on the photo shoots - I can't get Joe to pose, or just stop moving for one second. He's having none of it. I love the idea of your boys dancing to their own beat! It may be difficult to photograph, but it's wonderful.

  26. So cute! I've been wanting to get the Sailboat pants pattern, and now I know it can be bloomified I'm even more convinced that it's essential. I'm thinking summer bloomers for the girl baby...
