Steady yourselves...that thing that almost never happens, happened! Something I made coincided with an actual blogging event. It's the virtual pajama party that's been taking place over at Did You Make That. Pretty much the next best thing to hanging out in our pjs and bashing each other with pillows, don't ya think? Last year I missed the boat and I was sad. This year I saw all the pj posts popping up again and by some freak of great bloggy timing I have just finished my first pair of pjs. Yes yes I know. It's a little backward. Pj pants are usually one of those 'first go at sewing' garments aren't they? Maybe now is a good time to admit I'm yet to tackle a cushion cover. In reverse, is how I roll, obviously.
Pattern: Sleep Well pajama pattern from Favorite Things. Not too much to describe here. I was looking for a wide leg, drawstring waist pant and kept coming across billowy waisted, harry high pants versions. This one had me at 'Low Rise'.
Fabric: I used a Nani Iro double gauze cotton from the 'Fuccra' line (this shop carries some beauties) and it really is the perfect pj fabric. So soft to start with and only gets better with washing.
Sizing / Fit: I cut the S, no mods. I'd definitely go back to this pattern, although I think we'll have to agree to disagree on what constitutes 'hipster'. So, maybe a little higher than I was imagining but a happy medium and everything you'd want in a garment made for slothing. And they may have even been worn out of the house, on a few occasions.
What, no mandatory jumping on the bed shot! What kind of lame pajama party is this? Oh so you didn't get the memo...this is actually a lounge pants party. For lounging. Definitely feeling too cold and reptilian to be roused into any whole body movements like jumping.
No wait, here we go, limbering up...
...hah! Who was I kidding. Back to slothing.
They look really comfy. Happy Slothing!

ReplyDeletelove the fabric! it's perfect for pj's. i'll have to check out that pattern shop, hadn't heard of them before!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! While I have tackled the cushion cover, the elusive pj remains on my list and now I'm wondering why on earth I'd have chosen to sew a cushion before a pair of sloth inducing pj pants. I believe this must be remedied. Thanks for the motivation!
ReplyDeleteThese are the most beautiful pajama pants I've ever seen! That fabric is so fantastic, and it would really make a comfy pair of pajamas.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is so gorgeous. Those must be the most comfortable pj pants ever.

ReplyDeleteThey look very comfy! I'm a bit bummed I didn't get a chance to take part this year. I still want to make pj's though so eventually.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric looks so soft. Also it looks like it would be good to keep you warm in winter but not make you too warm for summer. Love the design on it too!

ReplyDeleteThat fabric is amazing. Luxury pjs! Love the style of the pattern too.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty is that fabric!
ReplyDeleteLurrrrrrve your choice of fabric. I'm wearing the same print in the aubergine colourway today as a dress. It'd be so snuggly for PJs!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to have come across your blog. I can really only wear low rise or hipster pj pants. guess that's just what goes with my body type. i will have to try these since all the patterns i seem to find are very high-waisted with long inseams. yuck! I look forward to adding your site to my reader! :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable Sophie!
