There I was, table cleared, stash at the ready, all set for the big winter sew. And then the Northern Hemisphere swoops in with THIS distraction! A swimsuit pattern. The hot-as, gift-to-women-everywhere, BOMBSHELL swimsuit, by one of my fav adult sewing bloggers Closet Case Files. Here's the thing. I didn't test this pattern. I'm not an affiliate. But when I saw this I just had to share! I love swimsuits. I've loved them long time. And if I actually did fit into the mould of Aussie surfie chick then that'd explain things. But I'm pasty and scared of sharks. So it's anyone's guess.
If you've witnessed the conga of breathtaking bombshells making their debut in the last few days you'd know what I mean by this swimsuit being universally flattering. There's this stunner by Sallieoh, this gingham beauty by Lladybird and another lovely by Paunnet. Being a bit print happy I was always going to dive for a patterned fabric first but now I'm noticing how classic and beautiful the Bombshell makes up in solid colors. However, if it's a printed swimwear lycra you covet, my two favorite sources are Tessuti Fabrics (online and ships internationally) and The Fabric Store (accessible by kangaroo only).
I am truly in awe of anyone who puts together something as mind blowing as a hand-made pattern so I wanted to get behind Heather and her Bombshell and celebrate its release with a giveaway...
Up for grabs is one copy of the Bombshell pattern + a piece of this exsquisite swimwear fabric, generously donated by Tessuti Fabrics. Of which there is more available + other beautiful prints, like this beach scene (it said buy me, I said yes). If you'd like to enter, leave a comment or tell me which version you'd make. A winner will be drawn at random, from anywhere in the world and announced on the 16th June. And then I'll be sprinting to the post-office in the hope that it gets delivered before the Sewalong begins.
So what do you think about them apples? Are you in?
Oh man, I've been coveting this pattern on all the US blogs, but seriously, what's with winter down here in Aus?? Bah. Anyway, I'd love to make version A but turn that halter into a crossover at the back. Then it would literally be my ultimate swimsuit.
ReplyDeleteI'm so with you - I feel like I've been bowled over by this pattern! And if I don't win it I will of course have to buy it anyway, even though the maths and ruching scare me a bit too :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I do get to it, I'll be doing view A (I'd love to try view B, but fear the bosoms wouldn't stay put). And unless I'm your very lucky winner of that FANTASTIC fabric, it'll be in a solid picked out the paltry selection in my local shop.
Can't wait to see yours!
I've seen all those pattern tester versions over the blogosphere and I'm oh so ready for the sewalong. Saddly I'm still on the hunt for some good material and it is not that easy in Germany. As always I feel a bit jealous about your fabric options (but in a good way) And I reeeeeeeeally love that fabric, so I'm in for that giveaway and I would prefer to make Version B (although I can totally see me making both)
ReplyDeleteThem apples are good. I'm in. With view A.
ReplyDeleteI fall in love with this pattern...but I have never sewn a swinsuit and I´m a little bit scare with it :-S The beach scene fabric is very funny. Count me in! I have to learn to sew stuff like that!
ReplyDeleteI just followed all your links and it looks good in every single version!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, this comes at a time when I've been scouring the internet for a fabulous vintage swimsuit!
I'd definately choose view A to make for me, even though I love both versions.
I love version A and would love to win but with our blergh winter in Auckland I don't think there will be any beach going for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteAfter I saw Sallieoh's version, it was put on the to-do list straight away.
ReplyDeleteI'm in. Please and thank you!
ReplyDeleteI adore view A; I'd seriously go swimming next summer if I had that to wear!
ReplyDeleteI think I like view A best :)
ReplyDeleteIt's view A for me. Thanks for this generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love the way the suit looks in a solid but egads what a great print! I love both views but I think I'd want the added coverage of view A. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would love to make view B! Thankyou for the giveaway! x
ReplyDeleteI've been watching this pattern take the internet by storm and was more than happy to wait for summer to buy my own copy to support such greatness, but when you offer to throw in some fabric and do the draw on my birthday, well I just can't resist! I'd make version a for sure, 4 babies have put an end to plunging necklines for me!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this!!! If I won, I'd make view A ... thanks so much for the chance ...
ReplyDeleteI would love to create view A but instead of halter neck have the straps straight over the back.... it would definitely be a challenge; I've never sewn with stretch before!
ReplyDeleteI would make view A. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDelete(isabel_mbpp@hotmail.com)
View A!
ReplyDeleteI want to be a bombshell too, any view! Thank you for this!
ReplyDeleteI love that beach scene fabric. It's awesome! I'm not going to enter as I won your last giveaway and do t want to be greedy. I am planning, however, to give this swimsuit a try at a slow pace. Hopefully that way I'll get it done in time for summer :)
ReplyDeleteI'd make view A, since I'm too curvy up top for view B, I think...
ReplyDeleteI would definitely make view A! Thank you so much for this giveaway, I've been lusting over this pattern since its release... fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI love both views, but I see myself more in view B, in a navy print with rope/knots all over it. If that exists... Love this pattern!
ReplyDeleteI've seen all the versions and they all look fantastic and they all have different body shapes so obviously flattering for everyone. I'd make view B - Love it.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely in! I would make view B. Love that gorgeous fabric!
ReplyDeleteI am 100% in. I can't wait to be strutting around in my swimsuit!
ReplyDeleteI love view A, after tackling kids bathers last summer I might have to try some for me.
ReplyDeletecount me in! love this. can't wait to see yours.
ReplyDeleteoh, and view B for sure.
DeleteI would love to sew and wear A!! It'd be perfect for my pregnant belly! ;)
ReplyDeleteI want to make this as a high-waisted bikini super bad. I'm definitely making this up when I come back from vacation
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to make view A this summer :)
ReplyDeleteI would sew view A. What a cute swimsuit!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the support and the fabric is TO DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE FFFFFFFFFOOOOOOOOOOORRR! Tessuti, you minx you! Can't to see your beach scene beauty Sophie!
ReplyDeleteYes please!
ReplyDeleteoh i love this pattern (and the fabric!). yes please!
ReplyDeleteACK I love that fabric so much! Thank for the chance! I think I'd make View A :D
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much a flat-chested gal so I'm thinking view b would be most flattering for me?? I first saw the bombshell sewn up by Novita (a very purple person) and she looks amazing in hers, just love it. That fabric is gorgeous, would love to give this a go, thanks for the chance to win! Can't wait to see your version as you have been on fire with your amazing creations!
ReplyDeleteYes! Please count me in :) i would live to try view A with some fabric that I got at Mood!
ReplyDeleteView A in fushia pink!
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that there is an option in this pattern to make a high waisted bikini...I think I would try that! Love the print, thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love that steel Rose swimwear fabric!!!. I wish i had enough money to buy these things right now but i just spent sooo much on other projects. Your version is so great as well as all the others. i really love how flattering this is on all these different bodies im seeing.
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern and am so excited for the release. I think I would make view B first though.
ReplyDeleteOh man! I think I'd make the blue look. This is such a great suit for any Mommie belly. Also loved the conga imagery!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway! Hope I win.
ReplyDeleteI love view A!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try view B - I already have something similar to view A. In either a vivid solid colour or a simple print, like polkadots. Bright green with medium-sized white dots? We'll see. rach.e.bain@gmail.com
ReplyDeletei've never made a swimsuit, but it's already hit 100 degrees F here - very hot! and that will probably last til september, plus i only live about 20 minutes from the beach. i've never seen any good swimwear fabric locally. please count me in on your giveaway because that fabric would be perfect! i think view B would be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI would make view b in a hot minute! Thanks so much the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make the view B top with the View C bottoms - fantastic! And the fabric - WHOA! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so in. I've been dreaming of this since I saw it! I love view A.
ReplyDeleteI'm in as well! What a knock out pattern. It's been so fun seeing it pop up all over the land of sewing blogs recently. Go Heather! Thanks for the chance to win. I'm leaning towards view A, but I might venture into view B territory, too, as well. Two bathing suits never hurt anybody! (amy.ahearta at gmail dot com)
ReplyDeleteWahoo! I would love to try and sew a swimsuit and what a great pattern to start out with. I have seen the bombshell popping up over the blog, and everyone's suit turns out amazing! I would try version A!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in. As soon as I saw the pattern I ordered the fabric, lining and elastic! All I need now is the pattern. Looking forward to the sew-a-long.
ReplyDeleteI am dying to make this swimsuit, and every new version I see makes me covet it more. I would make view A, probably, though view B would be fun in a large print.
ReplyDelete--Alice
I love view A the best.
ReplyDeletechevybelair1 at juno dot com
Oh,oh, pick me, pick me! I loove the fabric and the swimsuit pattern A is just what I need! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern. As for the view, I can't decide! I love them both. View A looks a bit more supportive, though...
ReplyDeleteoh man! another bombshell giveaway! I'll try my luck again ;)
ReplyDeleteI really love both full suit views, but I'd do view B with that bold fabric. I think it would work nicely with that neckline shape. Though, I'd also want to make view A is this lovely matte kelly green lycra I found on the Spandex World website. . .
katherine.jones13 (at) gmail.com
I absolutely love the halter version- but with a pattern in hand I might have a harder time choosing!
ReplyDeleteI really like the View A. I looked at a couple of the pattern tester versions you linked up to and the top just looked fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI love version B and would be excited to try it in a really vibrant color, like magenta!
ReplyDeleteView A is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI have been on the lookout for a nice swimsuit pattern, because I just can't find anything in the stores that suits my (modest) swimsuit needs AND my budget. My husband joked and said to sew my own and I said sure, and he looked at me funny. Anyway, view A is my favorite and I loooove the fabric!
ReplyDeleteI've never made a swimsuit, but this pattern makes me want to SO BAD! I would love to try View B.
ReplyDeleteI would love to make view A. I love the style. Even though I never thought that I'd sew a swim suit, this pattern looks too good to pass up on.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in! I discovered your blog a little while ago and I just love your creations so much! I'm obsessed with the Satsuki dress you made, I even bought the pattern and will try it soon! I just had my first child so I totally need a new swimsuit to flatter my new body... And this swimsuit is killer! I'd make A view for sure!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely make a swimsuit out of that gorgeous fabric! I would have to go with version A - love the sweetheart neckline :)
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY in. I'd probably make view A? Can't decide!
ReplyDeleteVersion A. For sure. Would be so fun to sew a swimsuit!
ReplyDeleteIm in - View A is on my list..... what a great way to get rid of those winter blues by sewing some swimwear!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd seriously make BOTH versions! Count me in on your fab drawing!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh view A - simple flattering angles at the top. But then I think I would later try the other one just to be sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking view B. This swimsuit is taking over the blogging world!
ReplyDeleteView B for me. I can see this swimsuit being really flattering on all figures. Count me in for your giveaway. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make the halter version but am concerned about maintaining coverage.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely need view A, I can't wait to hop over and see it on everyone!
ReplyDeleteMae
Fabulous! Love that print. It would go well with a cocktail!
ReplyDeleteView A for sure!!
ReplyDeleteOoh I *really* love view b - but my apples aren't that ample so I'm not sure how well I could hold it up lol! The ruching looks really flattering too :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic print! I'd be making View A - wanted something just like it last summer and it was just so expensive and in the end ill-fitting. Love the ruching
ReplyDeleteI think both are lovely but I'd go with view A as it seems a bit safer with my little one pulling and tugging at my suit.
ReplyDeleteView A!!! Loving both the pattern and the fabric!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give away... i would do view B.
ReplyDeleteView A is amazing! And pretty much exactly what i head in mind to do for a swimsuit. Now i don't have to draft it myself....
ReplyDeleteYes please! I'd make view A - it is almost identical to my worn-to-death
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Commenting on my phone .... My favourite black seafolly swimsuit is nearly identical to this - and I've worn it to death!
DeleteThinking I'd like view a, however... it may be easier to *contain* my girls in a b.... they are currently ginormous due to my nursing duties.... thanks bunches!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I want that pattern. I need a new swimsuit and that is awesome!!! I would go with view A. I like the straps a little better. Oh I'm so excited about the sew along. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd do the red version! I've been seeing it too, and I LOVE it! Was going to wait until next year to buy it though so I will looka little better in it... But if I win it, I'll sew away at it!
ReplyDeleteme me me! i'd make the sexy halter in that lovely tropical fabric...and then make myself hit the beach more than ever! thanks for the sweet share out.
ReplyDeleteI love love love this pattern! I would make view B and I loooove that Steel Roses fabric from Tessuti. Just love it. Adore it. Want it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic giveaway!
I love this pattern!!! I'd go view A. Coincidently I'm moving to a house near the beach in 6 weeks time so this pattern would be awesome. Although it is the middle of winter at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI have to have this pattern!! Nothing had tempted me to contemplate sewing swimwear until I saw this. I just love view A
ReplyDeleteView A, in a reddy blue maybe.
ReplyDeleteI love view A!
ReplyDeleteThanks for both giveaways, I'm in. I'd make view A too, plunging necklines aren't my thing. I was thinking it would look great in navy and white stripe - a classic nautical look for summer.
ReplyDeleteView B, I think the locals at Bribe Island need to see this in it's glory!
ReplyDeleteI SOOoo need some new bathers, I would go for view A. Love the floral fabric too!
ReplyDeleteView A to start but maybe o e day I'll be daring enough to try B!
ReplyDeleteI am in! View A for me, I def could not pull off that plunge :)
ReplyDeleteLove this swimsuit! I just bought fabric for it yesterday, but haven't bought the pattern yet. :) I love the halter version and bought a solid navy blue for it (I totally agree on initially going for a print but then seeing how stunning and classic solids look I changed my mind)
ReplyDeleteOooh, View A is my favorite! I would love to enter!
ReplyDeleteI have never been brave enough to sew swimwear (or togs as us kiwis would say) and would love to make version A. It would be perfect for the upcoming summer here in the states!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try making a swimsuit and view A would definitely be the style I'd try.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the fabric you chose! I would make view A, although I like them both.
ReplyDeleteI put this pattern on my to-do list -- it's so awesome! I'd try the B version. Thanks for the chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteView A..@("_")@!!
ReplyDeleteA combination of A and C. What a cute pattern!!
ReplyDeleteOoooo, I agree this is the first pattern that has made me want to sew up a swimsuit in years. I've been making eyes at it for days now and wondering if there might be something to all the "Get ready for swimsuit season" workouts. :-) I think I would make View A. I heard the instructions were fairly good so maybe this project won't chew me up and spit me out..... Thank you for the giveaway that is very generous!
ReplyDeleteEvery version of this I've seen made up looks great. I'd make view B.
ReplyDeleteEvery single version i have seen of this pattern looks to die for and plus they all say it is easy to sew. I would love to give it a try (although i am a bit scared still :) ) i think i'd make view A. thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love both of them. I think I would make "both" of them to. Just to be sure to have the right version depending of the place and the time of the day!
ReplyDeleteThey are prety cool!!
thank you
I think that all of the versions showing up are great, but personally I would opt for view b. It looks more my style!
ReplyDeleteView A in peacock blue. Oh, that would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteBoth verisons! Why settle for just one?
ReplyDeleteI love that fabric! And I love both versions at the front, so it would be hard to choose, but I think I would make the back into a skirt for more coverage.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, oh boy! These are gorgous! My first pick would be view B but after successfully tackling it, I would give view A a try as well. Thanks for such a great opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI'd make view B, no doubt. Though I'm also intrigued by the high-waisted bikini bottom option that isn't picture anywhere! And that fabric is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! I like version B/
ReplyDeleteA for my Apples!! Love this pattern! Very Feminine!
ReplyDeleteI am loving view B. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am loving view B. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletewell, I caught up on blog reading too late to enter the giveaway, but this is a smokin swimsuit! I can't really dwell on the idea of wearing one anytime in the near future, being so freaking pregnant with my third kid, but this would be a great thing to have someday.
ReplyDelete
