We interrupt this winter for...a BOMBSHELL giveaway - Closed

There I was, table cleared, stash at the ready, all set for the big winter sew. And then the Northern Hemisphere swoops in with THIS distraction! A swimsuit pattern. The hot-as, gift-to-women-everywhere, BOMBSHELL swimsuit, by one of my fav adult sewing bloggers Closet Case Files. Here's the thing. I didn't test this pattern. I'm not an affiliate. But when I saw this I just had to share! I love swimsuits. I've loved them long time. And if I actually did fit into the mould of Aussie surfie chick then that'd explain things. But I'm pasty and scared of sharks. So it's anyone's guess.

As for sewing swimsuits, I've been wanting to have a go but until now have found nothing remotely inspiring in the way of cute patterns. And to be honest the intimidation factor here is pretty high. I'm not afraid of stretch, I afraid of ruching and maths and weird elastic. And all are involved here, in small quantities, mind you. I've glanced over the pattern (one eye squinted shut) and there are a few small calculations involved and plenty of ruching. Which is why it looks damn gorgeous! And all the pattern testers have said that it is A-Ok and easy to follow so I'm sure it's going to be F.I.N.E. Plus there is going to be an actual Bombshell Sewalong!

If you've witnessed the conga of breathtaking bombshells making their debut in the last few days you'd know what I mean by this swimsuit being universally flattering. There's this stunner by Sallieoh, this gingham beauty by Lladybird and another lovely by Paunnet. Being a bit print happy I was always going to dive for a patterned fabric first but now I'm noticing how classic and beautiful the Bombshell makes up in solid colors. However, if it's a printed swimwear lycra you covet, my two favorite sources are Tessuti Fabrics (online and ships internationally) and The Fabric Store (accessible by kangaroo only).

I am truly in awe of anyone who puts together something as mind blowing as a hand-made pattern so I wanted to get behind Heather and her Bombshell and celebrate its release with a giveaway...
Up for grabs is one copy of the Bombshell pattern + a piece of this exsquisite swimwear fabric, generously donated by Tessuti Fabrics. Of which there is more available + other beautiful prints, like this beach scene (it said buy me, I said yes). If you'd like to enter, leave a comment or tell me which version you'd make. A winner will be drawn at random, from anywhere in the world and announced on the 16th June. And then I'll be sprinting to the post-office in the hope that it gets delivered before the Sewalong begins.

So what do you think about them apples? Are you in?

  1. Oh man, I've been coveting this pattern on all the US blogs, but seriously, what's with winter down here in Aus?? Bah. Anyway, I'd love to make version A but turn that halter into a crossover at the back. Then it would literally be my ultimate swimsuit.

  2. I'm so with you - I feel like I've been bowled over by this pattern! And if I don't win it I will of course have to buy it anyway, even though the maths and ruching scare me a bit too :-)

When I do get to it, I'll be doing view A (I'd love to try view B, but fear the bosoms wouldn't stay put). And unless I'm your very lucky winner of that FANTASTIC fabric, it'll be in a solid picked out the paltry selection in my local shop.

    Can't wait to see yours!

  3. I've seen all those pattern tester versions over the blogosphere and I'm oh so ready for the sewalong. Saddly I'm still on the hunt for some good material and it is not that easy in Germany. As always I feel a bit jealous about your fabric options (but in a good way) And I reeeeeeeeally love that fabric, so I'm in for that giveaway and I would prefer to make Version B (although I can totally see me making both)

  14. I've been watching this pattern take the internet by storm and was more than happy to wait for summer to buy my own copy to support such greatness, but when you offer to throw in some fabric and do the draw on my birthday, well I just can't resist! I'd make version a for sure, 4 babies have put an end to plunging necklines for me!

I'm leaning towards view A, but I might venture into view B territory, too, as well. Two bathing suits never hurt anybody! (amy.ahearta at gmail dot com)

    ReplyDelete
  54. oh man! another bombshell giveaway! I'll try my luck again ;)

I really love both full suit views, but I'd do view B with that bold fabric. I think it would work nicely with that neckline shape. Though, I'd also want to make view A is this lovely matte kelly green lycra I found on the Spandex World website. . .

My husband joked and said to sew my own and I said sure, and he looked at me funny. Anyway, view A is my favorite and I loooove the fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  87. View A, in a reddy blue maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Thanks for both giveaways, I'm in. I'd make view A too, plunging necklines aren't my thing. I was thinking it would look great in navy and white stripe - a classic nautical look for summer.

    ReplyDelete

I've been making eyes at it for days now and wondering if there might be something to all the "Get ready for swimsuit season" workouts. :-) I think I would make View A. I heard the instructions were fairly good so maybe this project won't chew me up and spit me out..... Thank you for the giveaway that is very generous!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  103. I love both of them. I think I would make "both" of them to. Just to be sure to have the right version depending of the place and the time of the day!
    They are prety cool!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Both verisons! Why settle for just one?

    ReplyDelete
  107. I love that fabric! And I love both versions at the front, so it would be hard to choose, but I think I would make the back into a skirt for more coverage.

    ReplyDelete
