Pattern: 90 minute shirt tutorial from here
Fabric: women's tee + ribbing
Short and sweet post today. I made this for Archie's little mate, who just turned 4. He's into owls and I happened to have this thrifted tee in the cut-up clothes pile. I only had small window of sewing time and needed a quickie of the best kind so I turned to the ever-faithful 90 minute shirt, also seen here and here and maybe here. It's a real confidence builder too when your sewjo needs a boost. Though now its finished I really want to keep it. Is that possibly the lowest form of indian giving, the one in which you don't even give the present? So I posted it right here where I won't get away with my crime, since there's a good chance our little friend's mummy is reading this...
Hoot hoot, that's Uber-cute :P
ReplyDelete:) thanks Poppykettle!
DeleteOooh, I love that, I would find it difficult to give away too! Um, I clicked for the tutorial because I have a 4 and 3 year old who MUST have a shirt similar...but there was no tute just a version you had done, is this correct or is there a tute? Thanks D
ReplyDeleteHi Darby, if you click on the link next to where it says Pattern: 90 min shirt tutorial from here, it will take you to the original tute by Dana, but thanks for pointing that out!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool - I would have definitely kept it for myself! x
ReplyDeleteHaha, thats good to know, thanks Mrs B
DeleteI love the eyes! Did you do that or was it like that? You did a great job, rockin the 90 minute shirts!
ReplyDeleteMax, it came like that, its kind of a patch work feel. There's the spotty fabric and then black felt on top so you could definitely get the same sort of look with a diy.
DeleteI would be tempted to keep this too. Or try to recreate it maybe. You should teach me how to better use my serger, I'm dying over how cute the detail is on the neck and cuffs.
ReplyDeleteReally? You want ME to help you with the Serger? I'm totally flattered but, Crystal you must know I don't even know how to thread mine. I took it to get repaired once because I thought it was broken and they said I just needed to re-thread it! That detail around the sleeve and neck binding is literally just a normal kind of serger finishing stitch along both edges, like the tutorial. I'd like to know how to use mine a bit better too so if you find any good tips pass em on! x
DeleteAHHHHHHHHH! I love it! I have an owl obsession, and this is totally awesome!
ReplyDeleteTee hee thanks Emily your comments always crack me up!
DeleteI just found your blog from the knit series on made by rae. I love your blog and all the things you make! I am mostly a self taught sewer and am trying to branch out sewing knits. It's not going very well. lol but I am trying! Your creations are getting me excited to use those thrifted shirts and make something wonderful! Here's to hoping I can make some amazing clothes for my son and daughter. :)
